Description

The monuments to William Rogers, Thomas Rogers, and Anthony Lawrence are located in the churchyard of the Church of St. Michael, positioned in a row east of the path leading to the south porch. The early 19th-century pedestal tomb for William Rogers is made of limestone and has a square plan with decorative brackets featuring foliate and cherubs' heads at each corner. Each side has sunken inscription panels with egg and dart mouldings. The inscriptions include William Rogers on the west side, Thomas Rogers of The Lower House, who died in 1872, on the south side, and Rebecca Lawrence, daughter of William Rogers, who died in 1800, on the north side. Below each inscription panel is a sunken rectangular panel with egg and dart mouldings and a festoon above each panel. The tomb is capped with a moulded pyramidal top featuring a pineapple finial.

To the south of this pedestal tomb is a chest tomb for Thomas Rogers, dating from the 17th century and also made of limestone. It has a fielded inscription panel on the south side within a raised margin, with similar panels on the north side and the east end. The corners are adorned with quarter balusters, and there is a winged hourglass at the west end, topped with thick capping that has a moulded margin.

Further south is the chest tomb for Anthony Lawrence, also from the 17th century and made of limestone. This tomb features fielded inscription panels on the sides and lyre-shaped ends, each decorated with a single plant motif. It is capped with thick moulding.
