Description
This barn, located immediately southwest of Little Toller Farm, dates back to the 16th century, with its roof and porches rebuilt in the 19th century. The walls are made of flint and banded rubble, with chalk-block walling at the south end. It features a Roman tile roof that is hipped at the south end and gabled at the north end, and it has one open storey.
On the left side, there is a projecting porch with corrugated iron doors and a concrete lintel above. The right-hand porch is smaller and has a wider segmental brick arch above, supported by a wooden frame and a long wooden lintel. The roof construction consists of nine bays, originally designed with jointed-cruck frames and collars, featuring very short cruck posts set into short plates beneath; this structure has undergone significant repairs.
At the rear of the barn, there is an attached structure made of rubble stone, dressed with brick, and covered with a slate roof, which houses the farm wheel. The iron wheel is sunk into a pit and remains in situ, with a plank door leading to the bin floor.
