Description

Barns and adjoining outbuildings located approximately 50 metres west of Trewey Farmhouse are of architectural interest. The front building on the left has been converted from a former house. The structure likely features some walls from the 18th century, while the majority dates from around the mid-19th century and includes a date of 1870 on the roof plaster. The buildings are constructed from granite rubble with granite dressings and primarily have scantle slate roofs with gable ends, except for the half-hipped end of the front wing on the right.

The layout is U-shaped, with the former house on the left now being a single-storey structure, a mid-19th century barn with an axial threshing floor behind it, and a principal range from 1870 that adjoins the rear right-hand side of the older barn, returning in front on the right. In front of this is a single-storey waggon shed.

The exterior features two-storey barns, a single-storey former house on the left, and a single-storey waggon shed on the right, with virtually unaltered elevations. The principal barn has three ground floor doorways and two windows flanking a central doorway, along with a loading doorway above the right-hand doorway and three regularly spaced first floor windows. The older barn front, which returns on the left, has two doorways (in the middle and on the right) and a loading doorway to the threshing floor above, with one ground floor window on the left and two first floor windows above. The buildings contain many old ledged doors and some original shuttered windows. The interior features lime-washed walls and original roof structures.
