Description
Cals Meyne Lodge is a house located on Churchtown Road in Illogan, dating from the early 18th century or earlier, with some alterations. The building is constructed of uncoursed rubble with large granite quoins, all painted white, and features a composition tile roof with cockscomb ridge tiles and brick chimneys. It has a single-depth, two-unit plan with two low storeys and two bays, which are almost symmetrical. The central doorway is protected by a small modern gabled porch. There are two two-light casement windows on each floor, all fitted with modern diamond-leaded glazing and shutters, with those on the first floor located under dormer gables. The house has tall gable chimneys, with the right-hand chimney built onto the top of an earlier and thicker stack. The right-hand end wall has a projection in the area of the ground floor hearth. The rear of the building has been altered. Inside, there is a very large rectangular fireplace in the right-hand gable wall, but the interior has not been fully inspected.
