Description
The hen house and adjoining barns, located northwest of Lower Boskinning, date from the mid-19th century. They feature granite rubble walls with granite dressings and hipped scantle slate roofs. The buildings comprise a range of farm structures, including two barns (which serve as granaries over shippons), a shelter shed, and a hen house positioned at the far right, set back from the front.
The exterior consists of two-storey barns and single-storey structures, with the least altered section on the right, which includes the barn, shelter shed, and hen house. The barn has a symmetrical front with two windows, a central doorway, and a first-floor loading or winnowing doorway above. The shelter shed features a large doorway on the right. The hen house, set back at the far right, has a splayed corner on the right and a small doorway on the left. The right-hand return wall includes a ventilator or hen entrance on the left and a doorway on the right. Inside, the hen house contains five nesting boxes built into the walls.
