Description

Tregoddick House, along with its front garden walls and gate, dates from the 18th century. The house features a front made of granite ashlar, while the rest is constructed from rubble with granite dressings. It has a half-hipped scantle slate roof with tall brick stacks on the side walls and three hipped roof dormers. The gutters are made of cast iron in an ogee style. The original layout of the house remains intact, consisting of a double-depth plan with a wider kitchen on the left, a back kitchen behind it, and a parlour on the right with a dairy and smoke room behind. An entrance hall in the middle leads to a stair hall. To the left, there is a 19th-century lean-to stable and coach house, with an old tree growing through the wall of the stable at the front.

The exterior features a nearly symmetrical three-window southwest front with a doorway positioned to the right of the center. There is a 19th-century fretted porch, an old glazed door, and late 19th-century four-pane sash windows. Inside, many original doors with fielded and beaded panels, original partitions, floors, and likely the roof structure are preserved. In the kitchen, there is a reused 17th-century chamfered granite lintel. A low granite coped wall runs parallel to the front of the house, and there is an early 19th-century scrolled and latticed iron gate, along with 20th-century replacement iron railings.
