Description

Lower Boskinning Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse, built incorporating some 18th-century dressed masonry. It is constructed of granite ashlar with a scantle slate roof and granite ashlar stacks to the gable ends. The original plan comprised two rooms with a central lobby and staircase extended in the late 18th century, and a full-width rear outshut providing service rooms. The original section has a large, partly blocked fireplace in the kitchen to the left, and a parlour to the right with a smaller fireplace featuring a 17th-century chamfered lintel. The south-south-east front has a nearly symmetrical facade with three windows, a central doorway, a 20th-century door, and old four-pane sash windows. The interior is largely original, including bowtell-moulded beams, a dog-leg staircase, two-panel doors, and a tie-beam roof structure.
