Description
The statue of Mercury on a pedestal is located about 20 metres south of Mount Edgcumbe House in Mount Edgcumbe Country Park. It is an ancient Roman classical marble statue depicting a nude male figure holding a caduceus and accompanied by a dog. The statue is set on a stone pedestal made from a re-used datestone inscribed with "R1672E." This statue is believed to be the same Mercury statue that was previously listed as being in the French Garden, where only the pedestal remains on site.
