Description

The Statue of Mercury, created between 1863 and 1870 by Lewis Vulliamy, is located in the sunken garden southeast of the Italian Garden at Westonbirt House. This bronze statue depicts Mercury with his winged hat and sandals, holding his herald's staff, known as the Caduceus, in his left arm. The statue is positioned at the center of a circular pool featuring a moulded edge with stone coping, and it is situated in a sunken garden that includes a seating area to the east.
