Description

The bridge, built probably in the 18th century around 1748, carries Easton Grey Road and the road from Shipton Moyne over a stream at a junction on the parish boundary. It was likely constructed as part of the Westonbirt House estate works and possibly designed by Lewis Vulliamy, coinciding with the construction of Pickards Lodge. The bridge is built of ashlar. It features round-headed arches, approximately one metre above the imposts (water level in April 1986), with a moulded string course below a rectangular plinth. The low, square piers have curved flanking stones and plain low iron railings between. On the west side, there are three arches which form part of the estate perimeter wall. The east side, situated in Shipton Moyne parish, has two arches, linked to an additional piece of wall opposite Pickards Lodge.
