WESTONBIRT WITH A433 ST 88 NE LASBOROUGH (off south side) 10/181 Former stables at Westonbirt House GV II

Former stables, now classrooms. North range between 1863 and 1870, enlarged to rear in 1930s and altered internally. Coursed and dressed stone, stone slate roof, scattered single polygonal flues. Symmetrical composition to north of 2 storeys with large central gable with 4 centred moulded archway at base through to courtyard, 2 full dormers with decorative barge boards to each side and projecting end gables, both coped with finials and with pierced quatrefoil in apex. Fenestration generally 2 or 3-light stone mullions to first floor with plain casements. Stone mullion and transoms to ground floor with square hoodmoulds with glazing bar casements. Large chamfered Tudor arches to rear, now infilled. Altered as part of school buildings for Westonbirt House but still retaining most original external features on most conspicuous elevation to north.
