Description

Woodlands Cottages, originally three cottages and now two, are located on the Westonbirt estate and were likely built in the 1860s, probably designed by Lewis Vulliamy. The cottages are constructed of coursed rubble stone with a roof of stone slate. They have stone end and external stacks featuring offset and twin diagonally-set square flues. The design consists of a single range of three stepped gables, recessed to the left and stepping forward to the right, with a single storey and attic layout. Each gable has a two-light chamfered stone mullion window with a square hoodmould and leaded casements, paired with a similar three-light window below. A chamfered Tudor archway contains a plank door, set within a small projecting gabled porch on the right-hand gable (No. 2). A small gabled dormer is inset on the level of and to the right of the central gable. The cottages are largely unaltered and form a group with East Lodge relating to Westonbirt House, situated on the opposite side of the road and within Westonbirt with Lasborough civil parish.
