Description
The Drive Bridge and Ice House, located west of Mount Edgcumbe Park, is an ornamental structure dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed from squared slatestone rubble and features a single elliptical arch supported by buttresses. The parapets consist of three cast iron panels with rendered piers, which are topped with Coade stone vases and pineapples, although one of the vases is missing. These vases are marked "Croggan, Lambeth 1827." The arch serves as the entrance to the ice house, which has a depressed four-centred brick vault with chambers on either side. This building is an unusual combination of a bridge and an ice house.
