Warehouse, now derelict. Circa 1870, possibly for John Hawken. Red brick in Flemish bond, the north west range with a stone rubble plinth. Rag slate roofs of irregular mansard arrangement. Plan: 2 straight joints indicate that the warehouse was built in 2 stages, the north west range of overall rectangular plan and the southern range of an irregular plan. A 9" internal cross wall continues to a level above the second floor between the 2 ranges. Exterior: The warehouse stands on the North Quay (qv) of Padstow harbour in a prominent position. It is of 3 storeys with irregular steeply sloping mansard roofs and retains the remains of loading bays in the north east and south west gable ends and in the southern gable end. Plank doors and partly blocked window openings irregularly placed. Interior: Slender cast iron columns and timber joists strengthened with steel 'I' beams. Timber partitions. The second floor has partly collapsed. The roof structure appears to be of 'A' frame construction with principals halved, lap-jointed and bolted at the apices. The structure was partly derelict at time of inspection (1987) and full internal inspection was not possible.
