Description

This small warehouse dates from approximately 1890 to 1900. It is constructed of stock brick with red brick dressings, and is notable for its decorative Dutch gable facing the river. The building is three storeys high and two bays wide. The street facade features tall windows, with the ground floor faced in engineering brick. There are hatches with metal gangways leading to the upper two floors on the left-hand side. The river elevation includes a rank of hatches on the right-hand side. A recessed service entrance has been inserted below the first floor on the west elevation, while the east elevation remains plain. All windows are segmental-arched and have red brick dressings, as well as impost and sill bands. The interior has not been inspected. The warehouse is part of a group of well-preserved warehouses along the Thames, rising steeply from the quay and clustered around St Mary Rotherhithe church.
