Description
The former engine house, now a shelter, was built in 1821 and is located in a recreation ground. It is constructed of yellow stock brick and features a stone-coped parapet and plinth, although the rear has been removed. The building is single-storey and has three bays facing the street, with a wider central entranceway and two smaller window openings that have stone sills. All openings are topped with gauged brick segmental arches and are currently blind. There are square sunk panels on either side of the plaque above the entrance. The interior has not been inspected. This structure forms a pair with the former watch house, and together they flank the street front of what was once a burial ground, now a park.
