Description

Althea is a house located on the north side of Padstow High Street, with possible origins dating back to the 17th century. It is constructed from stone rubble, which is rendered and painted, and features a slate roof with gable ends and brick end stacks. The building has a two-room layout with a central entrance and is single depth, heated by the end stacks.

The exterior is two stories high and presents an almost symmetrical front with two windows. The openings have brick segmental arches. The entrance is positioned near the center and features a carved timber panel with a fleur-de-lys motif in the tympanum above the door. Flanking the entrance are two 19th-century two-light casement windows, each with a two-centred arch to each light, and there are two similar windows above.

The interior is not accessible for inspection, but the stone rubble front walls are likely almost one meter in depth.
