Description
The Post Office is a 19th-century building that serves as both a post office and a shop. It features a colourwashed, rendered exterior and a hipped slate roof with a brick chimney. The shop front faces the street, while the house accommodation is located at the rear of the shop, with an entrance to the house through a porch at the left end and an entrance to the shop on the street front. The building has a two-storey front.
On the ground floor, there are canted bay windows on either side of the entrance for shop display, each bay containing 18 panes with moulded glazing bars above an unrendered stone plinth. The double-leaf glazed entrance door has six panes on each leaf, although the lower part of the door has been repaired with metal sheeting. The first floor features two pairs of timber sash windows, each with two panes per sash. Additionally, there is a letter box in the wall to the right of the bay window. The Post Office is prominently situated on a corner in the hamlet of Grimscott.
