Description

Ravenscourt is an early 19th-century house, originally a rectory. Constructed of freestone rubble with a slate hipped roof, it features brick dressings, brick chimneys at the hipped ends, and a double-depth plan with an entrance into a stair hall. The symmetrical three-bay, two-storey front is characterised by a single, central roof dormer. Slate-topped steps lead to a lattice porch and panelled door, with two ground floor and three first-floor windows, all timber sashes with six panes per light. The fireplaces in the ground floor front rooms were replaced in the 20th century. According to a statement by Thomas Hooper Morrison in 1821, he was commencing construction of a new clergyman's house at Launcells. Historical records confirm this construction, as detailed in "The Diocese of Exeter in 1821", a publication by the Devon and Cornwall Record Society.
