Description
The engine house at Trumpet Consols Mine is a beam-engine house built in the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed from granite rubble with granite dressings, featuring timber lintels over most openings and some round brick arches. The structure includes a rubble chimney with a short brick upper stage above a moulded collar. The building has a rectangular one-room plan, with a thicker front wall and a round chimney that clasps the rear right-hand corner. It stands three storeys high over a basement plinth. The elevations remain largely unaltered, although some masonry has fallen from various openings. The front wall has a central doorway, while the rear gable wall features a central opening on each floor. The interior has had its machinery, floors, and roof removed.
