Description

Lower Lodge with attached railings is a lodge and railings built around 1800. The structure is partly rendered and lined out, with some stone dressings, and partly made of red sandstone rubble. It features slate roofs. The front section is a single cell with a sandstone wing to the right and behind, all at a single storey. There is a two-storey service wing at the rear, which has been significantly modernized. The front piece is canted, with pointed-headed windows flanking the door, which has a modern design, along with modern sashes that include glazing bars. The building has a stone plinth and string course, an embattled parapet, and a hipped roof. The right wing contains a three-light casement window with a two-centred head, crested ridge tiles, and ridge stacks. The gabled end of this wing features a two-light casement with a lancet window above. The rear wing has a two-light casement on both floors, a 20th-century door, a 12-pane sash, and another paired sash at the end, all of which are modern features. The interior has also been largely modernized. Attached to the left of the front are four panels of contemporary iron railings and a gate in a lattice pattern.
