Description
The Lodge and front railings are located in Sedbury Park and date from the late 18th to early 19th century, possibly designed by John Foss of Richmond. The building is constructed of ashlar sandstone with a stone slate roof, and the railings are made of wrought iron.
The Lodge is two storeys high and has three bays. The central bay projects slightly and features a six-panel door beneath a fanlight, all set within a chamfered rusticated quoined round-arched surround that has a vermiculated keystone. The first and third bays each have a sash window with glazing bars, positioned in round-arched recessed panels on the ground floor. There is a band and cornice at the first-floor level, although the first floor is blind, except for a pediment in the central bay. The building has a moulded gutter box and a hipped roof with a central stack.
On the left side of the Lodge, there is one sash window with glazing bars on the ground floor and two unequally-hung sash windows with nine panes each on the first floor. The right side features two sash windows with glazing bars in round-arched recessed panels on the ground floor, along with a first-floor band and cornice, and two unequally-hung sash windows with nine panes each on the first floor.
In front of the Lodge, the railings consist of plain bars topped with small knob finials and include a matching central gate, with turned baluster standards at the corners and flanking the gate.
