Description

Little Athill is a farmhouse and adjoining barn, likely built in the early 19th century. It features painted stone rubble and cob construction with a rag slate roof that has half hipped ends. There is a central rendered and painted stone rubble and brick chimney stack.

The building has an interesting and unusual layout, with the farmhouse and barn being of roughly equal size, creating an overall rectangular shape. The farmhouse, located on the right, likely has a two-room plan with the entrance on the right and the main room to the front left, which is heated by the axial stack. There is a small 19th-century service extension at the right end, designed as a lean-to outshut. The barn on the left probably contains shippons on the ground floor and a loft above.

The exterior is two storeys high, with an asymmetrical front elevation facing the road. The barn has two plank doors on the ground floor and an almost central plank door leading to the loft above. The farmhouse has an entrance to the right, with a 19th-century two-light casement window in the centre and a blind window beyond. The first floor features a blind window on the left and a 19th-century two-light casement on the right, along with a small 20th-century window in the lean-to outshut to the right. The interior has not been inspected.
