Description
This is an 18th-century farmhouse with a barn adjoining it, likely built around the middle of the 18th century, with the barn dating to the early 19th century. The farmhouse is constructed of stone rubble with a slate roof and gable ends; the barn has a lower slate roof. A projecting rendered rubblestone stack is visible on the right-hand gable end. It was probably originally a two-room plan with a cross passage, and includes a staircase within a gabled wing projecting to the rear, forming a 'T' shape.
The front of the farmhouse has a symmetrical three-window arrangement. The ground floor windows are two-light casements with glazing bars, set beneath dressed stone segmental arches. A central stone rubble gabled porch with an asbestos slate roof and slate-hung gable end has a 20th-century timber door. Above are three two-light, centre-hung casements with glazing bars. A garage with a lean-to slate roof is located on the right-hand gable end and is slate-hung.
The bank barn is attached to the left-hand gable end and is of rectangular plan. It has two storeys at the front, with a plank door in the centre, flanked by two slit openings on both the ground and first floors. Brackets above the first-floor door once supported a slate hood, but this has been removed. At the rear is a rubblestone staircase leading to a double plank door, flanked by two slit openings. The interior of the farmhouse has not been inspected.
