Description

Goodmerry Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and features a rag slate roof with gable ends. The building has stone rubble stacks located in the gable ends and to the left of the center. It is designed with one and a half rooms deep and includes a staircase projection at the rear. The layout consists of three rooms with two cross passages. The left-hand cross passage contains the main early 19th-century staircase, while the right-hand cross passage has a simpler, smaller back staircase from the late 18th century. The central room is heated by a stack that backs onto the left-hand cross passage, and there is a passage running along the rear of the house.

The farmhouse is two storeys high with a regular four-window front. On the ground floor, there are three 19th-century three-light casements with glazing bars set beneath segmental dressed stone arches. A six-panelled door is located beneath a cut stone segment arch between the first and second windows. Between the second and third windows, there is a lean-to porch made of stone rubble with a slate roof, featuring a door on the right-hand side that leads to a panelled inner door. Above, there are three 19th-century three-light casements and one two-light casement, all with glazing bars. The right and left gable ends have stone rubble lean-to extensions.

Inside, the farmhouse has high plastered ceilings. The fireplace in the central room features a simple granite lintel, which may be a later addition. There is a 19th-century open string staircase with scroll brackets and square balusters. The upper floor has not been inspected.
