Description

This is a milestone located 100 metres southeast of Butterdon Mill, dating from around 1761 to 1764. It is made of granite and has a rectangular shape with a tapered post and a rounded head. The milestone is inscribed and painted in black block capitals with the distances: LISKEARD 3 miles and CALLINGTON 5 ½ miles. It was established under the turnpike act for roads leading to Liskeard in 1761 and the act for roads leading to Callington in 1764.
