Description
This is a medieval cross located directly to the south of the Church of St Ivo in St Ive. Made of granite, it has a rectangular section and features a mutilated wheel head. The south side is incised with what may be a Maltese cross, while the north side has a central channel that is gouged out, with rounded-head and slightly moulded sides. The cross is possibly linked to the Knights Templars and Hospitallers, who held the advowson of the parish and the Preceptory of Trebeigh from 1150 to 1540. In 1981, it was resited and erected on a new stone base by the Liskeard and Callington branches of the Old Cornwall Society.
