Description

Ford Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around the 17th century, with later extensions to the south and southeast in the late 18th or early 19th century. The building is constructed from stone rubble and features a slate roof with a hipped end on the left and a gable end on the right. There is a large stone rubble axial ridge stack located to the left of center and a stone rubble stack with a brick shaft towards the right-hand gable end. A rear lateral stack, dating from the 19th century, is found on the rear projecting wing.

The farmhouse has a single depth plan consisting of three rooms and a cross passage, extended to the south with a cartshed that has a loft above. It is two storeys tall with an asymmetrical west front. On the ground floor, there are two three-light casements with glazing bars; the second has a chamfered timber lintel with ogee stops. There is a partly glazed panelled door with a late 19th or early 20th-century glazed porch on a brick base. The gabled end has a slate roof, and to the right, there is a three-light casement with glazing bars, a chamfered timber lintel with run-out stops, and a slate hood above. In the extended bay on the right, there is an opening for the cartshed with a timber lintel.

On the first floor, there are two-light casements on the left and three three-light casements on the right, all featuring glazing bars. Inside, the room on the north has had its ceiling beams replaced, while the central room retains heavy chamfered and stopped beams, along with a granite lintel above the fireplace. The first floor and roof timbers have not been inspected.
