Description
This small building, located approximately 25 metres to the south-west of Leaze, is of uncertain purpose, possibly serving as an ash house. It is likely from the 19th century and constructed from granite rubble and moorstone. The building has a roughly circular plan and features a low entrance on the south side that opens onto a field, with a small opening on the north side directly opposite, facing the farmhouse. It stands less than 2 metres tall and has a low rectangular opening on the south side. The roof is corbelled and made of large pieces of moorstone. Situated in a remote moorland area, this building would have been used to store ash, which has a high potash content and was utilized as fertilizer.
