Description
Garrow is a cottage that was originally a small farmhouse, dating from the mid to late 17th century. It is constructed of granite rubble with large moorstone quoins and features a slate roof with gable ends. There is a granite rubble internal stack on the right-hand gable end, which has a drip course, a later brick shaft, and a cloam oven projection. The layout consists of two rooms and possibly a cross passage, with the larger room on the right heated by the end stack, while the room on the left is likely unheated. There are remains of a 18th-century outshot at the rear towards the lower right-hand end, which includes large granite troughs that are still in place. The cottage is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical two-window front, with the front window frames having been renewed in the late 20th century. The ground floor window openings have been enlarged. A stone rubble porch features large unmoulded granite jambs and a rag slate roof with a gable end, along with a renewed plank door. There is a two-light granite mullion window in the right-hand gable end. The interior is not accessible.
