Description

Ivey is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid 17th century, with some alterations made in the late 20th century. It is constructed of granite rubble, granite ashlar, and granite moorstone, topped with a slate roof that has a gable end on the left and a hipped end on the right. The left gable end features a late 20th-century gabled parapet coping with scrolled kneelers that mimic a late 16th-century design, similar to that of the Mansion House in Blisland. There is a stone rubble stack on the left with a moulded drip course, and a projecting rear lateral stack on the right, which has been incorporated into a later outshot extension.

The internal layout has been altered, making the original plan uncertain, but it likely consisted of two rooms and a cross or through passage, with the left room heated by an end stack and the right room by a rear lateral stack. Historical records indicate that one corner of a room was partitioned off for a service room. A lean-to outshot has been added or rebuilt across the rear elevation in the late 20th century.

The exterior features two storeys and an asymmetrical front with two windows. Late 20th-century two-light granite mullion windows have been inserted on both the ground and first floors. A mid-17th-century granite rubble porch with a carved finial leads to the entrance, which has a round-headed granite arch and a 20th-century door. The interior has seen the renewal of ceiling beams and roof structure in the late 20th century, and partitions have been removed. The interior was not inspected, and information was provided by the owner.
