Description

Higher Bury Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the early to mid-19th century, with some 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of granite rubble, with the front made of granite ashlar. The roof is slate, featuring ridge tiles and gable ends, and there are gable end stacks with brick shafts.

The building has a double depth plan, with a central entrance and principal rooms located to the front right and left, along with shallow rear service rooms. The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window front. All windows are 20th-century replacement 16-pane sashes, except for the ground floor window on the left, which is a 20-pane sash in the parlour. The central entrance features a 20th-century glazed door. There is a band course at the first floor level. On the right side, there is a 20th-century casement window at ground floor level, while the left side has an external stack and a 20th-century casement window at ground floor level. The rear of the building has a single-storey outshut that runs the full length of the rear, with a 20th-century door and windows. The first floor has three 20th-century casements.

The interior has not been inspected but may still have some original features, such as chimneypieces, stairs, or joinery.
