Description
Trudgian Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around 1800, with few later alterations. It is constructed of slatestone rubble, with the front featuring granite ashlar. The roof is made of asbestos slate and includes ridge tiles and gable ends. There are gable end stacks, with a brick shaft on the left and an ashlar shaft on the right.
The building has a double depth plan, with a central entrance. The principal rooms are located to the front left and right, each heated by a gable end stack, while shallower service rooms are at the rear. Attached to the left end is a later 19th-century stable, and there is a 20th-century addition to the rear.
The exterior is two storeys high, with a symmetrical three-window front on a plinth. The central entrance features a 19th-century six-panelled door with a fanlight, set in a round-arched recess. On the ground and first floors to the left and right are 19th-century 20-pane sashes with cambered stone arches. The first floor center has a 19th-century 16-pane sash with a cambered stone arch, while the right end of the building is blind. The attached stable is single storey with a loft, built of slatestone rubble with granite quoins. It has a plank door on the left side with ventilation slits, and a two-light window with shutters at loft level in the center. At the rear, the main house has a 20th-century single storey addition on the left and a two-light three-pane casement with a granite surround on the right. The first floor features a 20th-century four-pane window on the left, a six-pane window with a granite surround in the center, and a 20th-century window on the right. The rear of the stable has an external stone stair leading to a loft with a plank door, and another plank door at ground level, both with cambered stone arches.
The interior has not been inspected but may still have good plain features from the early 19th century.
