Description
Upper Crosswyn Cottage is a house dated 1875, with few later alterations. It is constructed of slatestone rubble with brick dressings and granite quoins, topped by a slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends. The building features rear lateral stacks with brick shafts. The plan consists of two rooms with a central entrance, and each room is heated from a rear lateral stack.
The exterior is two storeys high, with a symmetrical front that includes one window on the first floor. The ground floor has a central open-fronted gabled porch, which features a 4-centred arched doorway and an inner 4-panelled 19th-century door. To the right and left of the porch are 2-light 8-pane 19th-century casements with segmental brick arches. On the first floor, there is a central 2-light 8-pane 19th-century casement with a segmental brick arch above, and a small gable featuring a datestone marked 1875.
The right end of the cottage has a 2-light 8-pane 19th-century casement at both the ground and first floors, along with a small 20th-century lean-to addition to the right. The left end has two 2-light 8-pane 19th-century casements on the first floor, also with segmental brick arches. The interior has not been inspected.
