Description

SW 83 NW FEOCK

4/3 Exmouth Cottage and adjoining house

GV II

Small house with adjoining house, formerly estate cottages. Circa early-mid C19. Slatestone rubble front, rendered side walls. Grouted scantle slate roof with brick chimneys over external breasts slightly to rear of gable ends. L-shaped plan with two 2-room houses at right angles each with central entrances on the outer fronts. 2 storeys. Exmouth Cottage has 2-window north front with central entrance within original stone gable porch with scantle slate roof. All openings have cambered rubble arches. Orginal 16-pane hornless sashes to first floor. Ground floor left and right are later 4-pane sashes in original openings. Right-hand window is within original projecting stone bay with lean-to scantle roof; an unusual design to provide more internal space for the main room of the house and the only faintly Gothic influence to the front. Adjoining house proberbly later C19 at right angles, to rear, left, has 2-window front, 4-pane horned sashes and circa early C20 gable roofed porch with coloured marginal panes. Interiors not inspected.
