Description

Frost House and Frost House Cottage are a house and adjoining cottage built in the early 19th century. The buildings are constructed of plastered rubble with exposed rubble stacks at the rear, featuring brick chimney shafts, some of which have been partly rebuilt with 20th-century brick. The slate roof has glazed ridge tiles. The structure is L-shaped, with the main house facing southwest and the cottage positioned at right angles to the rear of the southeast end.

The main house has a double-depth plan, consisting of three main rooms at the front, a stair hall to the left of center, and smaller service rooms at the rear. The cottage at the back has two rooms. The house features a large kitchen stack projecting from the left end, a rear lateral stack in the center, and a front lateral stack on the right. It is two stories tall and has a symmetrical three-window front around a door set to the left of center. The windows include 16-pane sashes, with a central first-floor 12-pane sash above a six-panel door and overlight with glazing bars, panelled reveals, a doorcase, and a flat hood supported by shaped brackets. There is a six-panel service door at the right end. The roof is hipped at both ends, with deep eaves projecting over a recess at the left corner.

Most of the rear windows are original three-light casements with small rectangular leaded panes and central iron casements. The cottage features a four-window front with 20th-century casements lacking glazing bars, including five windows on the ground floor and two doors. Inside, there is some original joinery and plasterwork.
