Description

Whites Farmhouse is a house, originally a farmhouse, likely dating from the 17th century, with substantial extensions and refurbishment in the mid-19th century. The walls are plastered cob on rubble footings, with stacks constructed from rubble or cob and topped with 19th-century brick. The roof is thatched. The house originally had a two-room plan, facing east. The main room, with a rear lateral stack, appears to be of earlier construction than the left (south) room, which features a projecting end stack and is set back from the main front. The two-storey facade has a regular three-window arrangement, with two windows to the main room and one to the left room. These are 19th-century sash windows with margin panes. A gabled, thatched-roof porch shelters the front door on the left side of the main block. No wooden carpentry is visible on the ground floor. The roof was not inspected.
