Description
Number 1 Chapel Lane Cottages is a cottage that likely dates from the mid 19th century, with a 20th-century extension at the rear. The front is made of plastered cob, while the end and rear are constructed from exposed rubble. It features a 20th-century brick chimney and has a thatched roof. The cottage has a two-room layout and faces southeast, with a chimney stack located at the right (northeast) end and a 20th-century block at the rear. The left end of the cottage is attached to the two Chapel Lane cottages. It is two storeys high and has a front with two windows that are irregularly arranged, featuring various late 19th-century and 20th-century casements with glazing bars. The door is located at the left end of the front. The interior retains mid 19th-century details, although the roof has not been inspected. This cottage is included for its group value with the adjacent buildings.
