Description

Brewers Cottage is a cottage that likely dates from the 18th century and was modernized with extensions around 1960. It is constructed of plastered cob on stone rubble footings, with a stone rubble or cob stack topped with 19th and 20th-century brick, and features a thatch roof. The cottage faces the lane to the southeast and originally had a two-room layout, with a smaller unheated room on the right and a larger heated room on the left, which had a gable-end stack. These two rooms have now been combined. The building is two storeys high, with a two-storey flat-roofed extension added to the rear around 1960.

The exterior is nearly symmetrical, featuring a two-window front with 20th-century casements that do not have glazing bars. The central front doorway contains a late 19th to early 20th-century plank door, which is sheltered by a contemporary thatch-roofed porch. The tall roof is hipped to the right and gable-ended to the left. The interior was not inspected during the survey, but it is reported to include some original plain carpentry detail.
