Description
Berkeley Cottage is a cottage that likely dates from the 18th century. It was modernised, rearranged, and extended around 1960. The building features plastered cob on stone rubble footings, with a stone rubble or brick stack topped with 20th-century brick, and a thatched roof. The rear block, added around 1960, is weatherboarded and has a corrugated iron roof.
The main block has a two-room plan facing south-west and is two storeys tall, with a left end stack. The front is nearly symmetrical with three windows, featuring 19th and 20th-century casements with glazing bars. The central ground floor window likely blocks what was once the front door. The roof has a gable end on the left and is hipped on the right. The doorway was moved to the right end wall during the 1960 alterations, where a contemporary porch with a slate monopitch roof was added.
The interior reflects the changes made in 1960, with a rebuilt fireplace and beams that have either been boxed in or removed. The roof was not inspected.
