Description

Poppleford Brook Bridge is a road bridge that spans Poppleford Brook, built around 1840. It is constructed from red conglomerate stone rubble and Hamstone ashlar. The bridge features a small single span with vertical abutments made of conglomerate stone and a segmental arch composed of Hamstone, which includes neatly-shaped voussoirs. At road level, there is a plain projecting dripcourse, along with a Hamstone parapet that has simple weathered coping. Additionally, there are small terminal piers that project outward at each end of the bridge.
