Description
Nutwalls is a cottage, probably from the 18th century, that was renovated with extensions in 1985. It features plastered cob on rubble footings, with a stone rubble or brick stack topped with 20th-century brick, and a thatch roof, while the extensions have a felt roof. Originally, it was a small gable-ended cottage with a two-room plan facing south-west, including an end stack and an oven projection in the right (south-eastern) room. The two rooms have now been combined into one, and there are flat-roofed single-storey service extensions added to the rear and right around 1985. The main house is two storeys high and has a balanced but not quite symmetrical two-window front, featuring 20th-century casements with glazing bars. The front doorway is slightly left of centre and contains a late 19th-century door with a 20th-century hipped and thatch-roofed porch. The interior has been modernised, with plain carpentry details where exposed, and the fireplace is made of brick with a plain timber lintel. The roof has not been inspected.
