Description
Sheridon is a cottage, probably from the 18th century, with a service extension added in 1987. It is constructed of plastered cob on stone rubble footings, featuring a stone rubble stack topped with 20th-century brick, and has a thatched roof with slate on the 20th-century extensions. The cottage faces north-north-west onto the lane and originally had a two-room plan, although the partition between the two rooms has been removed. The right (west) room was the larger of the two and is heated by a gable-end stack. The original front doorway is blocked, and there is now a doorway at the left (east) end. The cottage is two storeys high, with a single-storey service extension at the rear and right end.
The exterior has a symmetrical two-window front, with a third ground floor window in the centre that blocks the original doorway; all windows are 20th-century casements with a diamond leaded pane effect. The roof is gable-ended, and there is a 20th-century slate-roofed porch on the left end with a 20th-century door. Inside, no carpentry is visible on the ground floor. The large fireplace is made of squared blocks of local sandstone, featuring a plain oak lintel and containing a brick oven. The roof has not been inspected.
