Description
Sherwood Cottage is a cottage that likely dates from the 18th century and was modernised with new service outshots around 1980. It features plastered cob on stone rubble footings, a stone rubble stack topped with 19th and 20th-century brick, and a thatched roof with slate on the outshots. The cottage has a two-room plan and faces south, with the larger room on the right (east) end having a gable-end stack. It is two storeys high and has lean-to service outshots at each end. The exterior has a regular but not symmetrical three-window front, which includes 20th-century casements with a diamond leaded pane effect. The front doorway is located to the right and contains a 20th-century French window. The roof is gable-ended to the right and hipped to the left. The interior was not available for inspection at the time of the survey, but some original carpentry detail is suspected to be present.
