Description
Tale Head Cottage is a cottage that likely dates from the 18th century and was enlarged around 1970. It is constructed of plastered cob on stone rubble footings, with a stone rubble or cob stack topped with 20th-century brick, and features a thatch roof. The cottage has a small three-room plan facing east-north-east. The left room, which includes the current entrance hall, was added around 1970. The central room is the main part of the original house and has an axial stack that backs onto the extension. The right end contains an unheated former service room. The cottage is two storeys high and has a regular but not symmetrical three-window front with 20th-century casements featuring glazing bars. The front doorway is located to the left of centre and is accessed through a contemporary thatch-roofed porch with a 20th-century door. The main roof is half-hipped on the left side and hipped on the right. Inside, the cottage has plain carpentry details where they are exposed.
