Description
Meadowend is a cottage dating from the 17th century, which was extended and modernised in the mid-20th century. It features plastered cob on rubble footings, a rubble stack with a rendered brick chimney shaft, and a thatched roof. Originally, it was a two-room cottage facing south, with a room heated by a projecting rear lateral stack to the right (east) of a small entrance lobby that includes a rear winder stair. A 20th-century one-room extension to the left (west) is set back from the main front. The cottage is two storeys high and has an irregular overall three-window front, featuring late 19th-century and 20th-century casements with glazing bars. The central door, now located to the left of the original cottage, is behind a 20th-century glass-sided conservatory. The roof is gable-ended. Inside, the right-hand room has a chamfered crossbeam with straight cut stops and a rubble fireplace with a plain oak lintel and side oven. The roof is inaccessible.
