Description

Mortimers and Snows are two cottages dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, which were both thoroughly modernised around 1970. The exterior features partly exposed rubble and partly roughcast cob, with rubble stacks topped by 19th and 20th-century brick. The cottages face southeast and have a two-room plan. The right cottage, Mortimers, has a central through passage and end stacks, while the left stack is shared with the adjoining Snows Cottage to the southwest. Snows has a late 19th to early 20th-century slate-roofed rear block.

The cottages are two storeys high with an irregular six-window front overall. Mortimers features 20th-century PVC windows of various sizes, and if a fifth window existed to the left of centre, it would create an almost symmetrical front. Snows has irregularly placed windows of various sizes, all of which are late 19th-century casements with glazing bars and unusually tall and narrow panes. The roof is hipped to the left and gable-ended to the right. Inside, there is plain carpentry detail, although the roofs were not inspected. Mortimers is likely the older 18th-century cottage, with Snows added in the 19th century.
