Description

Howards Cottage is a cottage dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. It is constructed of plastered cob on rubble footings, with a cob or rubble stack that has a 19th-century brick chimney shaft, and features a wheat reed thatched roof. The cottage has a one-room plan and faces southeast, with an entrance lobby to the right (northeast) and a stack on the left end. There is a slate-roofed outshot on the left end. The building is two storeys high and has a two-window front featuring late 19th-century and 20th-century casements with glazing bars. The door is located to the right, behind a 20th-century glass-sided porch. The roof is half-hipped to the right and gabled-ended to the left. Inside, there is plain carpentry detail.
