Description
Spirelake Cottage is a cottage dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is built of plastered cob on rubble footings, with a rubble or cob stack and a late 18th to early 19th century brick chimney shaft that is topped with 20th century brick. The cottage has a thatched roof and features a two-room plan, facing southeast. There is a large stack that projects from the right (northeast) end, and the building is two storeys high. The nearly symmetrical front has two windows, which are late 19th and 20th century replacement casements, and a central 20th century front door. The roof is hipped at each end. Inside, the cottage has plain carpentry details, including waney beams and a large rubble fireplace with a plain oak lintel and a brick oven on the left side. There is a 20th century extension to the rear, which is not of special architectural interest.
