Description
Higher Bagborough Cottages is a pair of cottages, probably from the 18th century. They are constructed from plastered cob on rubble footings, with rubble or cob stacks topped with 20th-century brick, and feature a thatched roof. The building is L-shaped, with the main block facing southeast and a rear wing projecting at right angles behind the left end. The front block primarily consists of one two-room cottage on the right, while the left end and rear block make up a second two-room cottage. There is a projecting stack on the left end for the right cottage and an axial stack in the rear block for the left cottage. The cottages are two storeys high and have an irregular four-window front with 20th-century casements. The right cottage has a symmetrical three-window front with a central door and a 20th-century porch. The left cottage has a door on the left with a similar porch and windows at different levels compared to those on the right. The roof is hipped at both ends and to the rear. The carpentry detail is blocked or boxed in with 20th-century fittings.
